XI Plan Significant Achievements

  Laboratories and Equipment 

 Tillage and Traction

This lab has been established to conduct various laboratory studies on soil bin and tillage and traction activities. The laboratory has been equipped with sensor based soil bin system. 

Seeding and Planting

This lab has been established to conduct various laboratory studies on seeding equipment and mechanism related to seeding machinery. The lab has setup for study of seed and fertilizer flow. The lab is  equipped with seed germination, seed moisture meter, and infra-red soil moisture meter in addition to regular ovens for determination of moisture content of grains, soil and plant materials.  

Plant Protection 

Plant protection laboratory has setup for hydraulic sprayer nozzles testing under simulated working condition. Apart from these standard patternator, circular patternator, nozzle wear rig, spectrophotometer, etc. are also available to test nozzles, their droplet size and its distribution, etc.  It also consists of various types of plant protection appliances used in India and abroad. The lab consist of the setup for nozzle testing.

Field Plot Machinery

This laboratory has facilities for design, fabrication and testing of field plot machinery. Test set ups for pneumatic seed planting and seed distribution using Oyjord system has been developed. The Laboratory is equipped with Plot aeromat, self propelled Oyjord plot drill, nursery master elite combine, Hege 125-B plot combine, Hege 33 fertilizer distributor, Numigral seed counter, and TRM precision planter.  

Ergonomics  

This laboratory provide the facilities to study the relationship between a person, his occupational workplace and working environment. This laboratory has state of the art  anthropometric and bio-mechanics equipment such as computerized ergometer, computerized treadmill, Metamax II ambulatory measurement system, strength measurement system, 3-D digitizer and ride vibration and noise measurement equipment Facilities are also available to carry out studies on various environmental stress agents i.e. vibration, noise, dust and temperature affecting human performance at the work place.  


Animal Energy  

Animal Energy Laboratory has been developed for performance testing of animal -machine system for crop production, post harvest and rural transport operations. The laboratory has animal loading car, animal treadmill, LIX micrologger and associated instrumentation system for measurement of engineering and physiological parameters for animal work performance in terms of energy output and fatigue. This helps in simulated laboratory and field studies on draught ability, work-rest cycles and fatigue of draught animals.
