Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries visits CIAE, Bhopal

Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Dr. Charan Das Mahant, visited CIAE, Bhopal on August 14, 2011. Earlier, Hon’ble Minister addressed the scientists of the three Bhopal-based ICAR institutes at Indian Institute of Soil Science where he highlighted his concern for appropriate mechanization in the wake of farm labor scarcity and issues related to farm profitability.

Dr. Pitam Chandra, Director, CIAE appraised the Hon’ble Minister about the programmes of the institute through a power point presentation. The Hon’ble Minister evinced keen interest in simple women-friendly tools and implements for crop production as well as post harvest processing and value addition. He witnessed the demonstration of soybean milk and tofu preparations in the context of malnutrition in the country.
